I finally finished Abby’s book on Jesse. Next up is “Combee” by Pulitzer winner Edda Fields-Black, who will be guesting on The Soul Pod in the spring of ‘26. TSP was conceived to rebuild my Pittsburgh media focus after The Soul Show spread its national wings.
Initially focusing on music guests, I started to stretch the topic boundaries – TSP episodes have now been filmed with Robin Woods (Women at Work Cycling Club) and Wayno of Bizarro comic fame. Professor Fields-Black is soon. This expansion is probably analogous to what I did with musical tangents on The Soul Show.
Percival Everett’s “James” won a Pulitzer not long ago. Upon realizing that Everett and I had a collegiate connection, the wheels started spinning about having him on The Pod. It would be a long, fun ride to the west coast. Two Pulitzer winners. Field of dreams.
