Women’s History Month Hints’n’Peeks

BHM February and WHM March represent the busiest time of the TSS programming year. I’m not sure exactly what and when week by week, but here are some possibilities and definites:

  • the annual All Day Women episode
  • a Roberta Flack early discography retrospective
  • Women of Soul, Funk and Rock (a reprise of a WHM feature several years back, revived for the benefit of the nationally syndicated cities)
  • more TBD (send ideas!)

Jazz Serendipity in the Virgin Islands

Upon arriving on a St. Croix home visit this month, I discovered that Dianne Reeves would be playing the brand new USVI Caribbean Music & Heritage Festival, It was produced and curated by the United Jazz Foundation and Jazz at Lincoln Center, and sponsored by the USVI Dept. of Tourism and the Dept. of Festivals. It was beautifully presented, well attended, and hinted at the quality of future events in a planned series. Chucho Valdes and Terence Blanchard are next; see the United Jazz Foundation calendar. Kudos to Nicole and Dion Parson of the foundation for excellent execution.
