Toshi’s “Parable”

Toshi and Bernice Johnson Reagon are at the Pittsburgh Playhouse 3/31-4/2 for their acclaimed “Sower of the Parable” opera. Before the two of them performed at the Playhouse in 2019, Toshi was interviewed on The Soul Show, and explained the history and mission of this presentation. Scroll down to 2019 to listen. She also talks about the relationship with her mom Bernice, founder of Sweet Honey in the Rock.

The Soul Show, Week 1 of March: Isleys’ “3+3”

It was the usual swing through BHM and WHM programming. This week, The Soul Show returns to its recurring 50th Anniversary Albums theme, This week, enjoy a retrospective on one of 1973’s most important and satisfying albums, the transformative soul/rock “3+3” release by the Isley Brothers.

    I am still mesmerized at the production. I am tickled to have spied ‘Eagle Eye Canton’ as he left the building. By divine providence, I met, spoke, and took a photograph with the amazing, talented, and incomparable Toshi Regan!
