The Soul Show’s new episode: BritJazz, plus “Spirit”

A show I’ve been wanting to produce is a feature on the young cats of the London Jazz Scene. By being in the pipeline for new music, I’ve been playing Nubya Garcia, Theon Cross and others for a few years now, but it was time to make it a theme. Enjoy.

Earth, Wind and Fire’s 8th album

Also, 2026 is the 50th year of EWF’s “Spirit” album, so that’s also part of this episode. It’s close to the end of their “classic” period, as we might call it. One of the songs is named after the band, which is interesting it that it came along so far into the discography. The great ballad writer Skip Scarborough wrote it. Licensing guidelines only allow 3 songs from one album in the same show, so it’s always a challenge to select a limited set. In this case, the eponymous track was the first on my list.
