New Year’s Resolution for The Soul Show

Happy New Year (almost) to all of you! Join me for The Soul Show on Saturday afternoon. Time to act on a New Year’s resolution I’ve been pondering for years. Also, WYEP staffers have invited me to brainstorm and help execute this year’s Black History Month programming, so I’ll give you a slight teaser on that.

On the first episode of the year, I’ll play the newly released Sharon Jones, brand new Haviah Mighty, Lido x J’Vom, and a Lonnie Liston Smith bday. Ecstacy from the important outfit Whodini will be remembered. Bashir Ansari makes his Three Rivers at Three debut.

(plus, there’s that New Year’s resolution)

See you Saturday 1/2/21 – WYEP 91.3, streaming worldwide at, 2-5pm Eastern. Remember the archives if you miss the show.

The Soul Show’s Top Ten Albums, 2020

Preparing the year’s Top Ten Albums list is an exercise in reflection.  It’s a time to rewind 12 months and remember what’s been good.  This year, while still leaning toward full releases, there was increasing consideration of larger EPs.

The Soul Show is always a balance of subgenre, mood, era, tempo and theme, affecting what is played and how often.  Think of The Top Ten Albums more as creations that move me….the ones to be listened to without boundaries, some touching an earlier time and some pushing into the future.  Enjoy.
